AZWanderings and “The Rim” Short Film

Info

Hooked Up Films is more than just a video blog or a hobby for a bored fisherman in between days of fishing.  It’s a vehicle by which we get to meet and fish with other fly fishermen and women.  We recently got connected with Ben Smith of Arizona Wanderings through another pretty cool website called the Outdoor Blogger Network.  I knew that I was going to be in the Phoenix area for Thanksgiving and thought it would really fun to meet up with Ben and spend a day seeing first hand what he writes about on his blog. He agreed and plans were made.

I had been hearing from Ben how he had been having great brown trout fishing on the streams of the Mogollon Rim on dry flies all summer and fall and so the anticipation for the trip was high.  We did have a great day on the water, but the best part was getting to spend time with another outdoorsman and finding a new friend.

Hooked Up Films has tried to capture the day in this video, we hope you enjoy it and you must visit Ben at www.AZwanderings.wordpress.com.

  • Eric,

Absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much for all the kind words and work you put into this film. I really like it and look forward to more to come. Thanks again.

  • Eric and Ben,
Very cool video! I’m so glad you two connected on the OBN and made something happen. I got to meet a couple of bloggers this last year, one being of course Joe and thats when we came up with the Outdoor Blogger Network. My plans next year are to meet a whole lot more outdoor bloggers, hopefully for a lot of fly fishing =) Well done on the video Eric and good looking waters Ben ~

  • Hey Ben,
Soooo relieved that you like it. I really enjoyed myself down there and can’t wait for us to fish together again. Next time I promise to pay more attention to my work behind the camera and capture those fishy moments.

    Rebecca,
Thanks for the note. I am pretty sure that we will see more of us outdoor bloggers getting together, largely thanks to you and Joe.
We will have to stay in touch and work out some fishing this spring or summer. I know that Travis from thetailout.blogspot.com wants to hook up for some Clearwater and Salmon river trips………

Just dropping by to let you know that you’ve been chosen as one of this weeks featured Outdoor Bloggers over on the OBN ~ Well done! The announcement post is up……..however, I can’t pull a RSS feed on your site so I couldn’t put that up on the homepage…yet. Email me if you have questions or need help hooking up a feed (those are important for subscribers!)
Congrats on doing such a great job on your video blog.

  • Rebecca,

Wow! Thanks. I really didn’t see that coming, but much appreciated. I don’t know what is up with my RSS, might be broken, I’ll check it out. I’ll try to get to that in the next day or two, but honestly I’m right in the middle of massive re-launch for skiresortareas.com and up to my eyeballs in bugs. I hope to find some time to get some new video and blog ideas out of my head and onto the site too.

Thanks again, really enjoying the blogger community,
    Eric

  • Great video! I’ve been reading Ben’s blog for a while now. Very cool you guys got to connect through OBN too. I was out your way last April (Bend)…fished the Fall, Deschutes and Metolius. Tremendous landscape and water. Wrote a lot about it on fishingpoet (my blog).

    Have a great week.

  • Hey Matt,

Glad you liked the video. I really loved spending the time with Ben. He is a great guy and has really put together a super blog.
We do have some nice water out here. If you find yourself out my way again, you have to let me know and we could hook up for a day of fishing.
Better yet, maybe I can come your way and we can do a feature video on you and your blog?!
