The Deschutes River may be Oregon’s premier Blue Ribbon Trout stream and so we simply had to shoot some film of our recent 3 day trip from Warm Springs to Maupin and share it with you all. The Deschutes offers some of the most consistent fly fishing for Redside rainbow trout and Mountain whitefish anywhere in the west. The river is beautiful and a mostly relaxing float too.
The only real challenges are the whitewater sections of this portion of the river. But when you consider that this is what helps keep the number of anglers down and the fishing good, it is worth the effort. With the rainbows growing up to 30 inches, the whitefish up to 24 inches, and the class IV Whitehorse rapids; this part of the Deschutes River is truly “Red, White, and Rapid”.
If the video is playing slowly or starting and stopping, make sure you turn the “HD” off.

Great video footage of your local river. Love the music. Thanks for the quick message on Twitter Eric, hope to stay in touch with you via your Blog. I will add your RSS feed to my feed reader account and watch for your new Blog posts often. You guys are welcome up here in Canada anytime with a fishing trip on the Bow River hopefully in your future plans.
Keep up the great work,
~Mike.
Mike,
Great to hear from you. We love that you like the footage of the Deschutes River. It’s one of our best fisheries for sure.
I’ve been by your site too and will be adding it to my links list and RSS feed.
Ditto on the “welcome here anytime” bit. Don’t be surprised if we show up sometime with our film gear to see for ourselves what the Bow has to offer!
It will blow your mind for sure, many come and never want to leave. They seem to always come back here sooner or later for some wicked dry fly action. Or guys like myself who use terminal tackle do very well on the Bow River. Either way you guys will NOT be dissapointed if you fish the Bow.
Thanks so much for your comments and your fantastic video footage, you guys are first class. I am adding your Blog to my website now.
Cheers,
~Mike.
